Piglet

This is our Piglet girl that we adopted through you over 7 1/2 years ago. Today is her 8th birthday and she is doing great!! Thank you for bringing us together with her foster family. We still keep in touch with them and email pictures on birthdays as they have her brother. Thank you Paradise Animal Rescue for all you do

Turk

Happy 1st Birthday, Athena!

Thank you Paradise Animal Rescue for rescuing this cutie, and letting us adopt her in June of 2013.

Dante

Just wanted to say thank you...a little over 8 years ago I adopted Dante thru P.A.R. He has turned out to be BFF's with our 3 year old daughter! (& tolerates our 1 year old son...hahaha!) He's getting a little white on the muzzle, but he's still as energetic as the day I brought him home as a 10 week old puppy!

Scarlett

We adopted Scarlett early February. When we saw her on the website we absolutely loved her! She is a sweet loving cat and waits for me when I get home from school every day. She has her routine. She purrs a lot and she really loves her new home! I couldn't ask for a better kitty! She has big blue eyes and everyone in my family loves her! She loves to cuddle and she's very clean. :)

Lexi

My story is about Lexi, formerly known as Janie. Lexi is a perfect fit into our lives! She goes to work with us every day, has her own office chair, with a pillow of course, that she sits on beside me as I do my work, she loves going "bye-bye". She gets a bit sad when it's a day off of work and we spend it at home. She picks out her clothes each day before heading off to work, hops in the car, and we're off! We have found the perfect groomer, who takes the extra time with her to make her comfortable before getting groomed, her Mommy was more nervous about the first time than she was! We've had Lexi with us for about 2 months now, and can't imagine our lives without our little Lexi-poo!! A HUGE thank-you to Paradise Animal Rescue for helping us find our perfect dog!!

Lilli

I adopted Lilli (a.k.a. Winter) in May 2013 from Paradise Animal Rescue. Adoption is very important to me, so PAR was one of the first places I thought of when I considered a new companion for myself and my adult cat Luka, who I saved from a kill shelter a couple of years earlier. Because my cat thinks he’s a big kitten and can be a rambunctious player, I wanted to make the best choice in order for a happy companionship for both. I put a lot of serious thought into the right age, personality and energy level of the new addition. I first studied each cat’s profile on PAR’s website and then visited their wonderful residents several times. Every person I met at PAR during those visits was welcoming and helpful when I explained that I was searching for the right fit. When I first met six-month-old Lilli, she had very recently been surrendered. I was instantly charmed by her but wanted to give her a chance to settle in before making such an important decision. When I visited her again a few days later, I knew she was the one! Lilli is a very playful, curious, independent and affectionate girl. After a slow but steady introduction period, she and Luka quickly adjusted and became instant playmates. They love to wrestle, chase each other and play king of the mountain on their cat tower. One of Lilli’s favorite games is to launch surprise “attacks” from hiding spots as her brother passes by. I don’t have to spend a lot on cat toys because their favorite is crumpled-up pieces of paper! I would like to thank everyone at Paradise for the opportunity to provide Lilli her loving forever home and for all of their important work in enriching the lives of both animals and people.

Dustino, a/k/a Dusty...the new King of the Castle

Good afternoon! I just wanted to share some photos of ‘Dustino,’ formerly known as Dusty the cat at Paradise. Since I am Italian, he didn’t mind the name modification to fit right into the family! He has made himself at home and is sooooo happy and cute. He is becoming a wonderful companion animal and is fun, responsive, affectionate and well-behaved. Though he’s over 2 years old, he has been getting in touch with his ‘inner kitten’ and it’s a joy to see him run through my hallway and chase his toys. I just love him! He is so sweet and cute and such a great, great cat. I had been without any companion cats for more than a year when the "youngest" of a group of four I'd started out with more than 20 years ago passed away. I am so grateful that I waited for the "purrfect" moment to be ready to adopt and that Dustino was there for me. Pictured above is Dustino in my kitchen, looking out my living room window and taking a “catnap” on my sofa. I just thought I’d share as I know he was a favorite of some of the volunteers there. Sincerely, Catherine Proud owner of Dustino the great

Roo

We just adopted Roo yesterday, 3/22/2013! He is an awesome cat! He is comfortable with his new home already, and with our dog Doober, who we also rescued from PAR 2 years ago! Roo is special because he has a gimpy back leg. He was injured when he was young and his leg fused together and he can't bend it. The people at PAR were worried that no one would want him because of this. Well let me tell you, he can jump as high as any other cat and run just as fast too! He is a lover and the first time I held him, he nuzzled his head under my chin and stayed there! I fell in love with him right then and there! His cute nose and his gimpy limp add to his wonderful personality! He already has a nickname: Roo Boo Kitty!

Smurf

Hi all, we wanted to give you an update on Smurf (formerly known as Bruce). According to our vet Dr. Bobby (Daley Rd Animal Care) he just celebrated his 1st birthday! He has adjusted to life on the farm very well. At first it was hard to get him into a car but now you cant even mention the word car or he thinks he needs to ride shotgun! He loves our son Adam, meets him everyday when he gets off the school bus, they come inside and wrestle! When they are finished Smurf sits on Adam...We think its his way of saying that hes won! He loves playing with our cats Bandit and Mittens, or maybe play isnt the right word he loves chasing them and terrorizing them! When he goes outside to play he chases after the hens and then the rooster Hank chases him. Then he antagonizes Hank, and Hank starts chasing him again. Its difficult to get his attention once he is pestering Hank to get him to come inside. He absolutely LOVES being outside! We couldnt have asked for a better dog, hes great loving and a big galute!!! And the best welcoming committee ever! Thank you for picking us to be his family!!!

Bear

Over a year ago I moved back and took over the small family farm. I knew that the one thing that would make my home complete was a dog.
I saw Bear on petfinder and just knew this was the dog. I went to PAR to meet Bear and sure enough, he was it!
I had to wait a couple of weeks to bring Bear home since he had to get fixed and had a couple of medical issues. So now here we are, just over a year later and Bear is doing fantastic! He is sweet, loving, loves running the property with the neighbor dog Buddy.
He is probably one of the best dogs if not, THE best dog I've ever had. :)
He now has a new buddy, a puppy named Lily to play with in the house. So far, he has been very attentive and helps train her. So cute to see!

Luna

I got Luna when volunteering October 2010. She is the sister to Bert and is a wonderful Manx cat. She loves to play. She plays hide-and-seek attack with me and fetch. Luna also loves to cuddle. She never leaves my side and follows me everywhere, including the bathroom. She's incredibly intelligent and makes a wide variety of noises when she tries to talk to me. Luna's so friendly, I have never heard her growl. I am truly lucky to have a cat like Luna. Thank you sooo much Paradise, she really brings joy into my life!

Hope Has Come Home!

When I first saw Hope at Walmart I knew she was the dog that I had been looking for. I walked up to her, sat on the ground (in a dress) and felt an immediate bond. After filling out the application I walked to the car and Hope tried to go with me at that time. We knew it was meant to be BUT...Hope came to us after a very rough beginning to life. We were not sure what we were going to get for a dog when we brought her home. Everyone at the shelter told us what a good girl she was but she had some very rough times and we were a little nervous.
Hope is AMAZING. She is calm, she is super loving, listens and follows directions first time always, walks great on a leash, loves to ride in the car, loves to sleep with her "brother" (a 13 year old human but don't tell her that!!!) she is very good with her 3 year old sister, has never had an accident, has not eaten anything, will not leave the yard even off a leash, and she protects her house. Hope loves her pink bed, leash, collar, and now her pink nails. She is a very pampered pooch!
I had concerns that people would be afraid of her thinking that she is a "bully breed" however people see Hope and melt. It has to be the eyes! This is GREAT because she goes everywhere with us.
We consider ourselves to be very fortunate to have Hope in our lives and we are blessed to be able to provide her with her FUREVER home!

Thank You Paradise!

Bruce (aka Cheetoh)

I just wanted to share some news with all of the paradise staff! About 2.5 weeks ago, I adopted Cheetoh from the shelter. He is doing wonderful! I couldn't have asked for a nicer kitty. He is so full of life and loves to play. I will say since he was just a little guy, we have changed his name to "Bruce". I don't think he minds! I am so happy he gets along well with our other cat, Stella and he LOVES our Shih-tzu, Harley. He is on antibiotics for a URI, but he is improving greatly since we first got him. He sure is full of energy and doesn't like to slow down at all (unless it's cuddling with the dog). I am so grateful to have found this little guy, and I can't wait to spend my adult life with him! He is such a great kitten, and I'm sure will be an even greater cat!

Rowan - A Dog's Life

A day in the life of Rowan: The crazy wonder dog.

Jake

Jake is a perfect fit to our family we could not have asked for a better dog/pup. I have so many pictures/videos to share with you of Jake. He gets along great with our out door kitty Spooky, our indoor kitty Jewel, our Parrot Scooter, and our three other birds. Him and the kids are inseparably, he loves to play with my mom and dads 12yr old Pit Bull (Tasha). He is never chained up and does not ever leave the yard unless he is walking with us. We barely ever put him on a leash for the mere fact he doesn't leave our side. He has learned to sit on command, lay down, and roll over ;-) He has his own special bed that Grandma made for him with his name embroidered on it, I take it in my room each night beside my bed where he likes to sleep each night. He goes everywhere with us. He has many toys that he loves...cute story: One morning while sitting on the couch I saw him looking around the house under things and behind things and noticed he was gathering all his toys and taking them to his bed it was so cute to see!!!

Baby Girl

June 27th, 2012 - Hi. I was the woman who adopted Baby Girl today. I wanted to update everyone that she is doing great so far. She has only been home for a couple of hours but things are going great. She was brushed while she drooled on the back of my chair. lol She loves my dogs but not so much love for the cats YET! She has explored every inch of our home and found her spot for now in the upstairs hallway on a cushy bench. I just checked on her and she is drooling on it, while purring when I approached her. She hasn't used the litter box or eaten yet but I think that will take a little time to settle her nerves some more. My oldest son held her for our whole drive home and they fell in love with eachother. He held her while she snuggled into his shoulder. She does seem nervous having the "run" of the house so I have put a dog crate in the living room for her, if she wants to go in to get away from the freedom. I wish I would have thought about it while I was there, but I should have offered to buy her hammock so she could have had something that smells like her home.. Oh well, I am sure she will know this is home very soon. I am making her a hammock though to hang on our cat tree, so she can have that security of her bed if she wishes. I will continue to update you guys on her progress and will send pictures some time next week, hopefully while she is laying with her new cat friends....... If not cat friends then with her dog friends, lol. Thank you so much!

July 1st, 2012 - Update on Baby Girl - please forward this to the girls so they can see she is doing great. Baby Girl has claimed a few spots in the house. She loves the cat tree in front of our window and the back of my couch which gives her another window seat to a different part of the yard and birds. She still does not like the other cats, but is doing well on tolerating them now as they enter the same room as her. Before she just growled and hissed. Now she is able to lay on the cat tree while another cat lays on it too. That is a huge accomplishment. She definately rules this roost. She loves to be on us when we are sitting on the couch. I made her a hammock and put it in our dog cage with the door always open, the first night she slept in there. Since then she has slept on the couch. She has a few blankets that she loves and nuzzles up in next to us when she is not on our chest. Honestly you would think she has lived here forever. She walks the house like she owns it, the dogs love her and she loves them, she licks my sons faces and arms. It is fabulous. She has been getting brushed everyday, she loves it and is beginning to get a nice shiny coat. Her eyes are starting to clear up and she still hates her medication. lol We bought her another new toy yesterday, it is like the fishing pole types with feathers on the end. She chased it forever jumping from couch to couch then the floor and we made our way around the room and back on her cat tree. We did this for about 20 minutes until she just lay on the cat tree and ate at the feathers. She was tired. Every time she would catch the feathers she would growl purr as if she "caught" her pray.
She is eating and using the litter box now. But it is her own litter box, she wouldn't go in the other cats box, so she got her own. Thank you for letting us adopt Baby Girl.. She has made this animal family even more complete. She will have a fabulous love filled free life now. Thank you again!

January 18th, 2013

Hi, I just wanted to give the volunteers that knew Baby Girl an update on her. I adopted her back in June. She was great when she came to us, but was ill with the herpes virus in her eyes. One eye became very severe and then it went to the other eye. She was seeing Dr. Thorpe weekly... we were trying every medication under the sun and then she came down with a respitory infection... She gave us a run for our money, literally, we spent a fortune on her. Once all the other cats in the house became ill with the respitory infrection, I was at my wits end and Baby Girl and I had a long talk while we lay on the couch one evening.... I told her I had tried everything to keep her healthy and she had to try a little harder. I almost felt like I was trying to keep a dying cat alive....  Well once the virus went through both eyes and then her "cold".... she has been great!!!! Her eyes look great, her fur is shiny, she loves to be brushed, pet, and held.
I felt guilty for adoptng her because stress is often the cause of the herpes virus rearing it's ugly head.... But Dr. Thorpe kept reassuring me that I did the right thing and she would be okay.... Well today, 7 months later she is fabulous. She does not even look like the same cat at all. She looks young and spunky. She knows we love her more than anything and she gets away with murder. She has a great appetite, she has her own bed, her own basket and her own place on the cat tree... the other cats give her this freedom and do not touch her places... It is like they know she deserves it!
She is very loyal, I suppose repaying me for helping her. I suffer from migraines and she is the one that lays with me when I am sick - for hours and hours and is very gentle with me.
I will never know if she would have gotten that ill had she stayed at the rescue, but I do believe everything happens for a reason and she is ours because we love her... our love and patience has healed her and I hope and pray she never becomes that ill again. Hopefully she got it all out of her system and will have a healthy life from now on.
Thank you to the volunteers for taking care of her when she was there! She is very loved and has a great life!!

Bert

Bert - We adopted Bert in March of 2012, and he's been a joy to have! We were told that he had been at Paradise Pets for about 2 years, and had been adopted out once before but did not work out in a household that had younger children - he's a bit of a rough player when you get him cranked up, and this was probably the reason. He's a wonderful cat though, very independent and playful! He's also extremely talkative, and intelligent as well - after recently discovering the laser pointer, he's gotten into the habit of 'asking' for it. He comes into my computer room and chirps at me, then looks at the floor and back to me, waiting expectantly until I pick up the pointer. Once it's in hand, he frantically watches the floor until I turn it on, and then he's off after it!

Our experience with Paradise Pets has been fantastic as well! Their facility was always clean when we went in, and it's obvious that the animals are well-loved and cared for. Short of a forever home, Paradise Pets is the next best thing for animals in need of a home. If we are ever in the market for another feline friend, this is the place we will go to again!

Linus's first day home

I came to Paradise rescue to look at an available female puppy. We were all set for a female, we'd had her name picked out for months!! Once my eyes fell on her brother my heart was his!! I couldn't stop looking at him. I took a contract to fill out while taking time to think. 3 1/2 hours later I dropped off my contract to getr approved to take a puppy, not knowing for sure which it would be. I went back to see them again, trying to tell or remind myself that I didn't want a male. As soon as I bent down, he came to me and stayed right at my feet. My best friend and I just laughed because it was as if he chose me too!! I thought my kids would still want the female. So I took them to see which puppy they would want, and they both picked him!! I couldn't believe it.
He is a perfect addition to our family! We love him soooo much!! I had been praying that the Lord would lead us to the puppy He wanted us to have so that I'd know it would be a perfect fit!! I believe with all my heart that He did just that!! We planned on a medium size female, but God knows better!!
I look forward to keeping on touch here with our family as it continues this awesome journey available thanks to Paradise Animal Rescue!!
