Dumplin

I was adopted by my forever family in October. They didn't even know they wanted a dog until they met me. We met at a school event and when they came to visit me at the shelter, I just knew this was my chance. I showed off a little, did some of my best tricks, and gave plenty of kisses. It worked! When they brought me home, however, I soon realized I had a lot of training to do. I am their first family dog and I knew I'd have to be patient with them. They started by changing my name to Copper. I think it fits me nicely, don't you? I had to learn how to trust this new family of five, but more importantly, the true ruler of this roost: Coco the cat! They bought me yummy food, bones to chew on, and nice cozy beds to sleep in. The kids love to play tug of war with me and teaching me tricks. I can sit, lay down, roll over, shake, walk, and dance. Yes...dance. Cutely, I stand on my two hind legs and spin around like a ballerina. My family loves this! I think I might be
starting school soon, just like my kids. They say I will learn o-b-d-yents, whatever that means. Thank you Paradise Animal Rescue for helping me find my family.
Love and sloppy kisses,
Copper

Thor

We ve been looking to get a new family member for a couple of years. We ve looked at several rescues and just didnt find the right fit for us. We stopped in at Paradise on our way home one day and met Thor. His name is a perfect fit with our other dog Zeus. My wife,(Beth) young son(Aiden) and my self (Jason) all got along great with him. We visited some more and got the paper work to fill out to adopt him. We went home over the wknd pretty sure that we wanted to adopt him. I came by on monday to drop off the paperwork and was disappointed to see that they werent open. So on tuesday Zeus and I went back up with our paperwork and to introduce Thor to Zeus and see how they got along. It all went well and the date was set to pick Thor up and bring him home! He has made a good adjustment in the last couple days to our home. But like any new pet there are growing pains and he has had his timeouts..lol...but he has impressed us with how good and well behaved he is.He will just get
better and better. We love him and are glad he is with us now.

Madison

I adopted Madison five years ago. She has been a blessing to our family. I was volunteering at PAR when a lady brought her in and said that she could not keep her. I decided I was going to foster her and than I adopted her. She is so funny and knows so many tricks. We all just love her.

Brittany

Brittany is just such a perfect fit around the house with me. She is just a lovable little thing, that's ready to play in a moments notice. Every day when I get home from work, she meets me with tons of kisses and hugs. Yeah she actually puts a paw on each shoulder and hugs ya.. It's so sweet. She is the biggest snuggler , and just loves to pile up on the couch or hop on the bed for the night and sleeps right next to me all night.
She even has her very own bedroom in the house with a bed that has been lowered down closer to the floor. She is going to become real spoiled real fast around here.. LOL.
Thank You So Much for letting me adopt her.

We LoVe OuR DaWg!

This is Missy May , now named Puppy Doobers...we adopted Missy near the end of August, but it feels like she has been with us all our lives! She is the most playful, loving, cuddly dog I have ever met! She loves to get up on the couch or in bed and lay right up on us with her head tucked under our chins! We have never been loved so unconditionally until Missy Doobers came into or lives! Missy May Puppy Doobers has been so well behaved, and was house trained from the moment we adopted her, never an accident in the house. She was also crate trained from the very beginning! I want to thank everyone at Paradise Animal Rescue for what they do for all the homeless animals. We would not have the love of Missy May Puppy Doobers if it weren't for you!

Sincerely,
Margaret Parker, Jason Delicata, and Emily Levy

Best Housewarming gift ever!

We had just moved into our new home in the middle of September of 2011 and knew from the day we moved in we wanted a pet dog. My son who's just about to turn 11 lived with us in a trailer park most of his life, and we always had to say no to pets that were not able to go in our family fish tank. After we were all moved into our new home, and as soon as we saw the yard was large enough and there was a kennel set up on the back of and in the inside of our 2 car garage we knew it was the right time to think about getting a family dog. So when we were mostly unpacked and settled in we started to look at some dogs online. After a busy day of looking at some signs at the pet stores and not having any luck with the local shelter being open (because they close it up on Wednesdays) We went back online and looked for some more local shelters and ended up finding Paradise Animal Rescue in Columbiaville right outside of Lapeer. We saw a few dogs that looked nice so we called them and asked
about one. The dog we originally wanted to see was with a foster family and we needed an appointment. Then I noticed Bailey on the site and asked my Fiance if she was there at the facility or if we would have to make an appointment as well. They said she was there, so we asked to come in and see her around 4pm so we could bring our son with us to meet her too. They agreed it was fine so we went to meet her. I know my family fell in love with her right away! She was so loveable and sweet! She was happy and full of energy to play I noticed how much she did not want to be in her cage but loved being there with the people caring for her at the shelter. She made our hearts melt from day one with her black heart shaped nose and her great personality. Now that she's home with us we love her more and more each day! Some things have been so new for us with having a pet dog in our life and can be a little confusing for us. We have had to learn so much about caring for her and making sure we
are all happy and comfortable together. She has been to the vet and the groomer already and she has lots of fun toys and treats all the time. We bought her an indoor Kennel that she loves to rest in when she's tired and she sleeps in my son's bed and on her dog bed in his room every night. She loves to go for walks with us in the park and is learning how to be calm when on the lead. If she sees a squirrel or cat or dog or any person she gets so excited!!! We are still teaching her how to not jump or run fast to get them. So far she's doing great and should be no problem. She was already potty trailned and only had two accidents the first two days she was in our home. Our fault we didn't recognise her telling us in time so really she's been just awesome. Family life in our home lately has felt really complete with Miss Bailey there. With her in our home things feel fun and happy more than ever and we are so blessed to have her as part of our lives. We recently spent Halloween
together and I made Bailey a Comic book hero dog named Dogpool her and my son were ninjas for Haloween this year and she looked really cute. My son is an only child so it's great to see him have someone to play with and Bailey's great for him with all her energy! She's really the best housewarming gift ever! Thank you so much Paradise Rescue and all who worked with Bailey and cared for her, she will always be loved and cared for in her forever home with us. :)

Finn & Fletcher

We decided to adopt a new cat for a Father's day present because we had recently lost two of our older cats and step-dad was feeling down about it. We knew he would love a new kitty and especially if it was a rescue. All his other cats were rescues. We searched for a orange kitty that would be like our cat named "brocolli" that we had just recently lost. We found the most adorable kitten named "Finn" at PAR and made arrangements to adopt him.  When we were at the shelter we also met Finn's brother Fletcher...when father's day came and we mentioned that Finn still had a brother at PAR we were told that we can't seperate the brothers and off to PAR we went to get Fletcher. We all love our new kittens, including the cats we already had. The Kittens have managed to get one of our older cats off the bed and running around again, which is wonderful because he wasn't getting any excercise before and it was beginning to show. They have definately brought lot's of energy and
excitement to our home.

Reggie

Reggie came to PAR in the middle of May 2006. His mom had him along with several other kittens that March and at 6 weeks of age all of the kittens were thrown outside. One day while playing hide-and-seek with his littermates, Reggie decided to hide next to the fan in a car. You can probably guess what happened next.. Reggie was brought to PAR with severe fractures/breaks to his front right leg. Dr. Thorpe felt it would be in the best interest to amputate the leg.
I saw a picture of him in the LA View, along with a golden who was pulled from a high kill shelter up north, telling the story about his injuries and the surgery he had to have. As soon as I saw the picture of him, I knew he was the puurfect kitty for me. I rushed to PAR to meet him and start the adoption process. After fostering him for a few weeks, Reggie permently became a member of the family. Even though he only has three legs, Reggie gets around just as well as his brothers and sister. His favorite time of day is when you get home from work and you open the front door. He hops as fast as he can meowing "MAMAMAMAMAMA" at the top of his lungs and jumps into your arms and gives head butts and nose kisses. Reggie will be 5 years old in March and we cherished every moment we have with him since he adopted us.

Squirrel's Story

In 2008, Squirrel was found by a well drilling company that was putting in a well for a farmer. They noticed what to be an injured squirrel from a distance. After getting her to trust them, she came up to one of the workers. They noticed it was a badly injured cat. She had a wounded right eye which appeared to have been done by a gun shot or a bite by another animal.
She was brought to Thorpe Animal Hospital in Lapeer, MI. She had to have what was left of her right eye removed and everyone knew she would need extra care after surgery. The staff made a call to the Paradise Animal Rescue Inc. in Columbiaville, MI to see if they had someone to foster the cat. PAR then sent a volunteer to see Squirrel at the hospital. The volunteer was committed to helping her get better.
Since that moment from when the volunteer set eyes on Squirrel she has been in his care and now calls his home her own. Squirrel was adopted and is doing wonderfully!

Miracle

Some might call it luck, others might say 'whats the big deal it's just a cat?'. But here at Paradise Animal Rescue Inc. we call it a miracle! And true enough it is! A call was taken in one day by a volunteer at PAR. A worker who was working on a new well had heard the faint cry of a kitten. On closer examination, two partially submerged kittens were found inside the main pipe of the well. One of the kittens was crying for help as her sister lay next to her unconscious, hypothermic and near death. The two were immediately brought to PAR. The kitten's sister who was in a crate across the room cried the whole time when she was saw what her sister was like. Cry after cry was heard from her and the sick kitten tried with every amount of strength she had to get up and respond, but she could not. The very sick kitten had to have an IV every half hour, had to be hand feed and needed around the clock care. The volunteer who took the kitten home to take care of her awoke one morning to see the kitten completely alive and healthy sitting on her looking at her! She had crawled up onto her in the middle of the night after being so near death a little while ago.
To some this might not seem like much. But taking it from the kitten's point of view or thinking about this as if this was a human recovery, then what would you think? Truly it was a miracle, and that is how the kitten got her name, Miracle, and her sister was named, Phoenix.
Both kittens are now adopted to their own loving forever home and they are doing wonderfully!

Miracle now ~ All grown up in her happy forever home!
