Bear
Over a year ago I moved back and took over the small family farm. I knew that the one thing that would make my home complete was a dog.
I saw Bear on petfinder and just knew this was the dog. I went to PAR to meet Bear and sure enough, he was it!
I had to wait a couple of weeks to bring Bear home since he had to get fixed and had a couple of medical issues. So now here we are, just over a year later and Bear is doing fantastic! He is sweet, loving, loves running the property with the neighbor dog Buddy.
He is probably one of the best dogs if not, THE best dog I've ever had. :)
He now has a new buddy, a puppy named Lily to play with in the house. So far, he has been very attentive and helps train her. So cute to see!

Hope Has Come Home!
Hope is AMAZING. She is calm, she is super loving, listens and follows directions first time always, walks great on a leash, loves to ride in the car, loves to sleep with her "brother" (a 13 year old human but don't tell her that!!!) she is very good with her 3 year old sister, has never had an accident, has not eaten anything, will not leave the yard even off a leash, and she protects her house. Hope loves her pink bed, leash, collar, and now her pink nails. She is a very pampered pooch!
I had concerns that people would be afraid of her thinking that she is a "bully breed" however people see Hope and melt. It has to be the eyes! This is GREAT because she goes everywhere with us.
We consider ourselves to be very fortunate to have Hope in our lives and we are blessed to be able to provide her with her FUREVER home!
Thank You Paradise!

Baby Girl
July 1st, 2012 - Update on Baby Girl - please forward this to the girls so they can see she is doing great. Baby Girl has claimed a few spots in the house. She loves the cat tree in front of our window and the back of my couch which gives her another window seat to a different part of the yard and birds. She still does not like the other cats, but is doing well on tolerating them now as they enter the same room as her. Before she just growled and hissed. Now she is able to lay on the cat tree while another cat lays on it too. That is a huge accomplishment. She definately rules this roost. She loves to be on us when we are sitting on the couch. I made her a hammock and put it in our dog cage with the door always open, the first night she slept in there. Since then she has slept on the couch. She has a few blankets that she loves and nuzzles up in next to us when she is not on our chest. Honestly you would think she has lived here forever. She walks the house like she owns it, the dogs love her and she loves them, she licks my sons faces and arms. It is fabulous. She has been getting brushed everyday, she loves it and is beginning to get a nice shiny coat. Her eyes are starting to clear up and she still hates her medication. lol We bought her another new toy yesterday, it is like the fishing pole types with feathers on the end. She chased it forever jumping from couch to couch then the floor and we made our way around the room and back on her cat tree. We did this for about 20 minutes until she just lay on the cat tree and ate at the feathers. She was tired. Every time she would catch the feathers she would growl purr as if she "caught" her pray.
She is eating and using the litter box now. But it is her own litter box, she wouldn't go in the other cats box, so she got her own. Thank you for letting us adopt Baby Girl.. She has made this animal family even more complete. She will have a fabulous love filled free life now. Thank you again!
January 18th, 2013
Hi, I just wanted to give the volunteers that knew Baby Girl an update on her. I adopted her back in June. She was great when she came to us, but was ill with the herpes virus in her eyes. One eye became very severe and then it went to the other eye. She was seeing Dr. Thorpe weekly... we were trying every medication under the sun and then she came down with a respitory infection... She gave us a run for our money, literally, we spent a fortune on her. Once all the other cats in the house became ill with the respitory infrection, I was at my wits end and Baby Girl and I had a long talk while we lay on the couch one evening.... I told her I had tried everything to keep her healthy and she had to try a little harder. I almost felt like I was trying to keep a dying cat alive.... Well once the virus went through both eyes and then her "cold".... she has been great!!!! Her eyes look great, her fur is shiny, she loves to be brushed, pet, and held.
I felt guilty for adoptng her because stress is often the cause of the herpes virus rearing it's ugly head.... But Dr. Thorpe kept reassuring me that I did the right thing and she would be okay.... Well today, 7 months later she is fabulous. She does not even look like the same cat at all. She looks young and spunky. She knows we love her more than anything and she gets away with murder. She has a great appetite, she has her own bed, her own basket and her own place on the cat tree... the other cats give her this freedom and do not touch her places... It is like they know she deserves it!
She is very loyal, I suppose repaying me for helping her. I suffer from migraines and she is the one that lays with me when I am sick - for hours and hours and is very gentle with me.
I will never know if she would have gotten that ill had she stayed at the rescue, but I do believe everything happens for a reason and she is ours because we love her... our love and patience has healed her and I hope and pray she never becomes that ill again. Hopefully she got it all out of her system and will have a healthy life from now on.
Thank you to the volunteers for taking care of her when she was there! She is very loved and has a great life!!

Bert
Bert - We adopted Bert in March of 2012, and he's been a joy to have! We were told that he had been at Paradise Pets for about 2 years, and had been adopted out once before but did not work out in a household that had younger children - he's a bit of a rough player when you get him cranked up, and this was probably the reason. He's a wonderful cat though, very independent and playful! He's also extremely talkative, and intelligent as well - after recently discovering the laser pointer, he's gotten into the habit of 'asking' for it. He comes into my computer room and chirps at me, then looks at the floor and back to me, waiting expectantly until I pick up the pointer. Once it's in hand, he frantically watches the floor until I turn it on, and then he's off after it!

Linus's first day home
He is a perfect addition to our family! We love him soooo much!! I had been praying that the Lord would lead us to the puppy He wanted us to have so that I'd know it would be a perfect fit!! I believe with all my heart that He did just that!! We planned on a medium size female, but God knows better!!
I look forward to keeping on touch here with our family as it continues this awesome journey available thanks to Paradise Animal Rescue!!

Joe-Joe
After taking Joey to his new home it was clear he was happy. He made himself right at home!! It was if he belonged there. He's very chill, cool and collective. He has to be at my side at all times... he loves to cuddle and just be as close as possible. Joey loves walks and car rides with his new sister.
We are so happy to have Joey in our lives and we have tons of love to share with him.
Thank you to Paradise Rescue, DIana-Foster Mom and Debbie Irwin for helping.

Pixie
So I started looking around and talking to people and heard about Paradise Animal Rescue. I checked out their website and saw this adorable little kitten face staring up at me. I showed my husband and he said to go check her out.
I fell in love immediately with Pixie (her name at the rescue was Adalia but we ended up renaming her because she had such a little pixie face). She cuddled right in and gave me that look that said "Yes, YOU are my human."
We couldn't bring her home right away because she was so small and she took a long time getting up to 2 pounds so that we could finally get her.
Pixie has settled right in at home, best friends with Penny now (although they are extremely jealous of each other at times and definitely have THEIR own humans they don't like to share with each other). She's very sociable with friends and family that come to visit us, and I know a lot of that is because of the wonderful care that the volunteers at Paradise gave her. They taught her at her youngest age that humans were safe and would not hurt her.
Thank you Paradise for taking in this little girl when she was so tiny and keeping her safe until we were able to find her. Pixie is happy, healthy, and a wonderful addition to our fur-family.
